2022 Studio Pricing Update

December 18, 2021

2022 Pricing Update

Well, it’s that time of year again. As business owners, we reflect on how the year went, what we had to do to make it through, and ultimately what that does to our pricing. So here goes…

For starters, we made it through 2021! A complete year in a global pandemic. Whew!

I am so grateful we were able to stay open, avoid shutdowns, mask up and keep our community as safe as possible. Seeing the instructors and students every day reinforced how much being a community yoga studio means to me.

You may have noticed some improvements this year that will help us stay put for years to come…some more disruptive than others.

We got an entirely brand new roof (that locks us in for 20+ years, right?), we waterproofed and updated our basement with in-studio laundry, we added touchless thermostats that are controlled offsite to limit surfaces that are regularly touched, put new sustainable insulation in floors and ceilings that will be more efficient for our HVAC and reduce noise, we added keyless door systems for enhanced security, and we’ve added a free UV mat sanitation station!

I couldn’t and wouldn’t do all of this if it weren’t for you—the students and teachers that make Brick City great.

And yes, it costs money, it’s expensive and it takes time. But it’s worth it because it helps our studio community. I want Brick City Yoga to continue to be a place where we can connect – for yoga, for conversation, for community – and will continue to pivot through whatever comes after a global pandemic to keep us going.

I think this is the part where I’m supposed to say we have to raise prices so we can afford to stay open and do all of this. And then I offer a great deal so you can buy all the classes before our prices go up.

But the truth is, we wouldn’t be here without you. The past 18+ months have more than proven that. I want to thank you for your commitment to us by keeping our classes at $10 a class. Still.

In community,
Kate

Wow. It seems weird to be celebrating an award right now. I debated if we should even post that we won this year’s A-List Award for Best Yoga Studio in St. Louis. But ultimately, this award isn’t about the studio, It’s about you – our community. And, now, more than ever, we know we wouldn’t be here without you.

Thank you to our yogis. Thank you for showing up every day, whether it’s online, in the studio, or just to like a social media post. You are why we are here. And you are why we will continue to be here.

Thank you to our instructors. Thank you for making Brick City Yoga a welcoming, dynamic studio full of laughter and love every single day.

And thank you, St. Louis Magazine. We are so grateful that you and your readers recognized us as this year’s best yoga studio. But more importantly, thank you for highlighting the exceptional business community in our region!

I’ve made a lot of changes to get ready for re-opening on June 15th. At Brick City Yoga, I have always wanted our space to be as safe as possible. And, that goes beyond keeping us all as germ-free as possible – it means being inclusive, welcoming and accessible to all of the yogis who have rolled out their mats with us, and all who plan to. I know to fully support our Black community, I must continue learning, continue growing and continue investing financially in Black makers.

When we reopen, at least 25% of our retail vendors will be from Black-owned companies, and by the end of the year, at least 50% of our retail will be represented by Black-owned companies.

In addition, we will continue to offer, and expand on our diverse, inclusive and trauma-informed programming, as well as offer financial support through Brick City Yoga Foundation.

I can’t wait to welcome everyone back onto the mat, but in the meantime, if you want to talk, brainstorm, share ideas or suggestions, reach out!

UPDATE 3/7/2022: Masks are optional at this time in the building. Individuals are encouraged to wear masks if they are in any high risk group.

UPDATE 7/26/2021: Per the most recent St Louis City Public Health Order, masks are required at all times in the building, on and off your mat, for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

UPDATE 7/1/2021: Masks are now optional for fully vaccinated individuals. If you are not yet fully vaccinated, masks are still required at all times in the building. We have increased class size slightly, but there is still plenty of room to socially distance yourself from others.

UPDATE 5/19/2021: Masks are still required on and off the mat. We have increased class size slightly, but there is still plenty of room to socially distance yourself from others.

Hello Yogis!

This policy is updated as of July 7, 2020.

It certainly has been an unprecedented time. We have missed you and appreciate all support more than you know. Since mid-March, we have been hard at work doing everything we can to ensure our studio remains a safe space for students. As we prepare to open again June 15th, we’ve made a few changes to do our part in keeping our studio a safe place for you. We’ve outlined what to expect below.

What We’ve Done!
We are fully stocked on antibacterial hand soap, hand sanitizer, and antibacterial/virucide cleaning agents. All cleaning products meet the CDC guidelines.

We’ve added additional protocols for our instructors. Instructors will take their temperature before each class and will not teach if they have a fever. They will not teach if they been feeling ill, show any flu or COVID-like symptoms, have traveled to a hot spot area, or if they’ve been exposed to someone who has tested positive or has been presumed positive.

-Instructors will wear masks in the lobby, common areas and while teaching.

-We have installed touchless sanitizing stations throughout the studio.

-Floor decals have been placed at least 6 feet apart to ensure social distancing and mat placement.

-We’ve added screen covers and iPad pens to minimize surface touching on screen and allow for antibacterial wipe downs.

-We’ve added touchless soap dispensers at each sink, touchless faucets, touchless air hand dryers, and automatic flush toilets.

-Surfaces, including doorknobs and handles, will be cleaned and sanitized before and after class.

-Air filters will be changed monthly rather than every other month.

-We will spray the studio space including walls and ceiling with an electrostatic sprayer nightly.

-We have added UV scrubbers to our HVAC systems.

We will continue to monitor all local guidelines and adjust our protocols accordingly to stay in compliance with all state and local laws.

What We Need You to Know!

Know Your Risk
COVID-19 is still here. If you are in a high-risk category, are immune-compromised or have underlying health conditions, we encourage you to stick with online classes, or consult a doctor prior to returning to the studio to ensure you are doing what’s right for your body.

Class Scheduling & Capacity
-Classes will be limited to 9 students per class.
-Students are encouraged to sign up online.
-We ask that students bring only what is necessary into the studio and practice social distancing when entering and exit shoe rooms.

Class Arrival
By entering Brick City Yoga, students are confirming they do not have a fever, have not experienced any flu or COVID-like symptoms for 48 hours, and have not been exposed to a positive or presumed positive COVID case in the past 14 days. Students are also confirming they are feeling in good health.

-The studio will open 15 minutes prior to class. Please do not arrive earlier.
-Please refrain from handshaking, hugging, or otherwise touching instructors or other students at the studio.
-Weather permitting, doors will be propped open to limit contact with doorknobs.
-Students must wear masks in the lobby, common area and while practicing.
-Touchless sanitizing stations are available in the lobby and throughout the studio for use upon arrival.
-Students are asked to not touch the iPad. Please give your name to the instructor for check-in.
-Stickers are laid out in each room indicating where to place your mat. These have been measured to be a minimum of 6 feet apart.

During Class
-Classes will be structured in such a way that only blocks are necessary; we are encouraging students to bring props or purchase prop kits.
-All props used during the class will be cleaned and sanitized per CDC guidelines with CDC recommended cleaning solutions. Mats should be wiped down before and after class using antibacterial wipes provided in-studio
Students and instructors must wear masks during practice.
-Instructors will not offer any hands-on adjustments, oils, etc.

After Class
-The instructor will exit first to prop doors open for students.
-We ask that students exit mindfully while maintaining social distancing.
-Students will not be permitted to stay after class but may socialize outside the studio.

New Year January Wellness Challenge

If you are anything like me, you’ve already been inundated with sales, promos, class specials and gym memberships promising a brand new you for the new year. Some of the sales have been tempting, but the thought of the same workout class for 30 days was a bit exhausting to me.
